TOWSON, Md. - Feb. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Health insurance agents have only scratched the surface of what they need to know to help their clients now that federal health care reform through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has taken hold, according to a health care reform expert.

“The real implications and effects of the PPACA are only now starting to be realized,” said Rodger A. Bayne, president of Benefit Indemnity Corporation in Towson, Md. “Agents need to remain vigilant if they are going to continue to protect the interests of the individuals and businesses they serve.”

A number of requirements of the federal and local health reform laws have been neglected by agents and their clients, neglect that could cause harm to them if not addressed this year, Bayne said.

“Those brokers who have the best knowledge of what these laws really mean and how to best serve their clients in light of them will have a huge advantage in the coming years,” Bayne said.

To help agents and brokers to better understand these challenges, Bayne’s company is holding a series of five monthly seminars, both in Towson, Md., and online.

The online seminars cost $49 each or $199 for the full series, while the in-person seminars are $40 or $129 for all five. Advanced registration for each series, starting Feb. 13, is required.

The seminars are designed to give brokers the advanced technical expertise necessary to succeed in this continually changing health care reform landscape.

Bayne will be leading these seminars, drawing on more than two decades of experience with health care reform, health benefits product development and agency management.

Ideal for agents and brokers interested in the nuances of federal and local health care reform and its implications, these seminars will address new HIPPA requirements, health care reform’s effects on ERISA and retirement plans, new reporting requirements and how best to integrate wellness into health plan benefits to curtail rising health care costs.
