Harrisburg’s newest web series to shoot in April 2014

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Feb. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Harrisburg’s newest web series will begin filming in April 2014 at various locales around the city. The series, presented by House of J Productions, will feature ‘something different’ that its creator J Blair Brown believes is lacking in the entertainment industry.

“Family entertainment is practically null and void,” says Brown, a lifelong Harrisburg resident. “We wanted to bring something back reflective of the 80’s TV shows such as The Cosby Show and Family Ties, TV shows that were decent for the whole family to watch, but with an added twist.”

That “twist” includes introducing new talent and real-life personas through various storylines presented by Shine, the story’s protagonist who opens up her own PR boutique on the outskirts of Hollywood. Shine learns the hard way that (1) just because someone calls you a friend doesn’t make them one; (2) ‘family’ is (sometimes) just a label; and  (3) love comes when you least expect it. The 20-something former ‘princess of daytime TV’ relies heavily on a younger half-sister for stability, as well as the stepmother she’s always known for the maternal nurturing never received from her own mother.

In addition to Shine, the cast of characters include Chantel, Shine’s negligent mother with issues of her own; Starr, the younger half-sister who keeps Shine focused; Chance, the powerful sports agent and Shine’s newfound love interest; Roberto, Starr’s new boyfriend who has dark secrets of his own; Mona, Starr’s mother, and Shine’s main confidant and stepmother; Rory, the neglected pre-teen who becomes a foster child of the agency; Manny, a man with ‘something over on Roberto’ and who willingly wields his power and influence over him; and more.

The series is in the process of obtaining SAG-AFTRA approval, meaning anyone with a speaking role will receive SAG credit, a major accomplishment for serious actors. Auditions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 8^th and 9^th between 12:30pm and 4:30pm (both days) at the East Shore Library (behind Colonial Park Mall) located at 4501 Ethel Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
