The nonprofit organization currently provides a program that centers around exciting read-alouds and a program designed to promote literacy awareness among children. The Saturday morning program is creatively designed to mix reading, learning, and fun. They have offered enriching classes, workshops, activities, and events to the community since 2004.
Bright Stars Director and Founder, Terri Norwood, has been a school teacher in the community for 20 years and demonstrates many methods of creativity to create a fun and exciting place for children to go and discover a love and interest in reading. Norwood often uses props, people, animals, reptiles, or food to assist her with helping the children relate to the story they are reading. Bright Stars Reading Club’s mission is to help 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade children develop and maintain a love and interest for reading in a fun and informal setting.
