The Blue Pie License team is excited to announce a new license placement for The Manhattan Syndrome in the virtual world with Skylight Games. The song chosen to feature is ‘Cold Company’ a track from their most recent EP ‘And we left it behind’.
The five-piece band originated in the West of Ireland and having played together in various forms since adolescence, The Manhattan Syndrome was formed conclusively in early 2011. They released the EP ‘And we left it behind’ soon after which gathered praise both at home in Ireland, and internationally.
Mixing the sonic scope of Sigur Ros, the drive of Arcade Fire and the mood of the National with their own pop sensibilities, The Manhattan Syndrome have forged a dynamic style of their own; a combination of simple hook driven songwriting with post-rock, momentous accompaniment. They have shared the stage in venues across Dublin with bands such as Planet Parade, Sounds of System Breakdown, The Casanova Wave, and Nanobot.
In June 2011, The Manhattan Syndrome recorded their debut EP, engineered and mixed by Alan Kelly in Windmill Lane Studios. ‘And we left it behind’ draws on influences as far ranging as Sigur Ros and Leonard Cohen while maintaining a polished, accessible sound that accommodates both the band’s driven rhythm and an emphasis on melody led vocals. Lyrically, sentiments of isolation and alienation surface throughout backed by a sometimes sparse, sometimes epic soundscape.
And We Left It Behind was released on the 12th of August at The Workman's Club, selling out almost immediately.
In October 2012, after months writing and rehearsing, The Manhattan Syndrome engaged in a crowd-funding campaign in order to make their debut album a possibility. With the help of the website Fund-It, and the many donors, the campaign was a success.
Their debut album ‘Goodbye Iowa’ was recorded and mixed in Westland Studios, Dublin, and produced by Alwyn Walker and The Manhattan Syndrome is soon to be released. The band have very recently finished filming their first video for the upcoming ‘Goodbye Iowa’ which was directed and edited by the band themselves.
Now we anticipate the release of their debut album ‘Goodbye Iowa’.
