Parque Explora selected ZIMS, the leading animal management solution for aquariums, to collaborate closely on animal records management best practices.  This Aquarium which opened in 2008 with 70,000 sq. ft. and 50,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space, respectively, is recognized as one of the best aquariums in South America.  Most of the aquatic species displayed are from Colombia - one of the world’s most biodiverse countries due to its role as an evolutionary melting pot between North and South America.  Colombia spans the continent and the Aquarium presents Amazonian, Caribbean, and Pacific species including spectacular lionfish, river piranhas, pirarucu, clownfish, stinging anemones, rays, and a tank containing a river tree root system.

“The work load of our Aquarium staff is enormous,” said Azucena Restrepo Herrera, Executive Director, Parque Explora.  “We are constantly examining new ways to save time and money, and also to be able to increase our efficiencies and cross-departmental communication.  ZIMS, as a workflow productivity tool, will help us record, calendar, search, and share information critical to our daily cleaning, feeding and maintenance activities.”

Stated J. Peter Donlon, Director, Global Member Development at ISIS: “We are proud to have such a high quality aquarium as a new institutional member.  The Aquarium, a leader in demonstrating, educating and preserving two ecosystems currently at risk - the tropical rain forest and coral reefs, will find the use of ZIMS enhances their operating effectiveness, animal management, and conservation programs.  Our ISIS membership base around the world will benefit from the active participation of Parque Explora.”
