Sullivan said the check will support ten veterans in the Six String Heroes program which provides guitar lessons and guitars for United States veterans who are suffering from mental or physical injuries as a result of military service.
The donation is part of an annual program Fazio's Music hosts in support of Six String Heroes. Store manager, Dan Kuse, said this year, the Ellisville-based music store provided 15 instrument donations, a portion of proceeds from its annual Veteran's Day sale held last November, and money earned from raffle ticket sales for a Taylor electric guitar donated by Taylor Guitars and two Fender acoustic guitars donated by Fender Musical Instruments.
Kuse said, “The St. Louis music community has really embraced our support of the program and we are extremely thankful to our customers who have shown personal support of Six String Heroes – this wonderful achievement would not be possible without them.”
Fazio's Music has supported Six String Heroes since it was founded in 2011, says Kuse, and it plans to continue to support the organization as long as it provides area veterans with music lessons and guitars.
Six String Heroes has recently seen national coverage on the CBS Evening News during a December 31, 2013 piece entitled, “War vets, some with PTSD, finding peace in picking up a guitar.”
