Stachybotrys & Indoor Mold Discussed in New Online Video

The IAQ Video Network releases another educational video about important environmental, health & safety (EH&S) issues.

PHOENIX - Feb. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of their latest educational video.  Their newest production discusses what people should know if they find out they have Stachybotrys or other types of mold associated with water damaged environments in their home, office or school.

Over the years, Stachybotrys chartarum has garnered widespread attention from the media who have often referred to it as “black mold” or “toxic mold” in news reports.  Although Stachybotrys chartarum can appear black in nature, and is also often green, so to can many other types of mold.   Likewise, even though Stachybotrys chartarum can produce mycotoxins, its presence does not necessary mean that toxins are present.

Having Stachybotrys chartarum or any type of mold growing indoors with high levels present in the air people breathe is a concern for building occupants,”reports Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “Stachybotrys chartarum often grows on wet materials with a high cellulose and low nitrogen content, such as fiberboard or gypsum board.  Whether its Stachybotrys chartarum or any other type of mold associated with wet indoor environments, mold growth indicates that there is a problem with water or moisture. This is the first issue that needs to be addressed or else the mold will continue to be a problem.  We hope this video helps to shed some light on this important health and safety topic.”

This educational video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that help to protect the public’s health. Sponsors include: EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Mold Solutions & FastMoldRemoval.com, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental and Healthy Indoors magazine to name a few.
