HOUSTON - Feb. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Palmer proudly announces the members of the 2014 Escapist Mentorship Program:

Sue Donaldson
Lulu Lin   (Lulu Lin is the Artist Team of Amy Lin and Lulu Fang)
Joseph Reinholtz

These four dedicated artists were picked from scores of applicants from around the United States, 30% of which were repeat applicants.  Dedicated artists submit a written application with art images and essays to a jury panel, and then, as a Finalist, they present themselves for “speed dating” interviews at Palmer’s Gallery.  For the first time in history, scoring well in the Interview Phase was critical to advancing as 8 Finalists were interviewed with only 3 applicants earning the 2014 Escapist Artist honor.  Panels for scoring are comprised of top Palmer patrons, including: FCC Members Yvette Hill, Dr. Susan Catlett and Richard Jennings plus Collectors Christopher Brown (2009 Vallone Award Winner), Ryan M. Leach and Carliss Chatman.  Read all about the history, mission and goals of this empowering program plus see first-class documentary videos by visiting EscapistProgram.com.

"This is a most historic class!” exclaims Palmer.  “They are the first that will work and show in the Escapist Gallery & Studios that world-wide supporters funded last year.”  (RefusetoStruggle.com)  The 2014 Escapists took the Pledge of the Escapist at a closed-door ceremony in Palmer’s Art Studio on Sunday, January 26th.   Prior to their Induction Ceremony, the Escapists met to receive their first assignment—after coaching from Palmer, to create a painting entitled Escapist 2014 and to then market and sell the piece at no less than a certain price.  2014 Escapist Sue Donaldson is exhilarated, “I am grateful and honored to be chosen.  I look forward to a year of learning and growth.”  Donaldson, from Kingwood, has grandchildren the age of her fellow Escapists.  Palmer is eager to witness how Donaldson’s wisdom combined with the youth of Lin and Reinholtz will foster everyone’s artist education.

Palmer’s Art Movement of Escapism is aimed at forever destroy the stereotype of the struggling artist.  His mentorship program, founded in 2009, aims to teach artists how to sell on their own and not be tied to the traditional art gallery system.  Palmer does this as a means of giving back to the art world--it is entirely free.
