LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Jan. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- The Paul Hornung Award, sponsored by the Louisville Sports Commission, recognizes the most versatile player in college football. The Paul Hornung Award Ceremony was held at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, on January 28, 2014. The 2013 Paul Hornung Award was given to Odell Beckham Jr. of Louisiana State University.

Paul Hornung is a generous and gifted leader. This talented NFL football player has given an enormous amount to the entire Louisville community. Describing his admiration for award recipient Odell Beckham Jr., Mr. Hornung explains: “I love the way Odell Beckham plays the game…He can run, catch, block and return kicks and plays with great determination. And he has my admiration for lining up on the scout team during the season to help his defense get better. That’s how I played the game – doing anything I could to help my team win.”

Attendees at the 2013 Paul Hornung Award Ceremony included an impressive lineup of NFL football players and coaches. Odell Beckham’s father Odell Beckham Sr. was there to talk about his son. Odell Beckham Sr. was a running back for the LSU Football team from 1989-1992. Coach Howard Schnellenberger attended the event and Jim Kelly, prior quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, was the keynote speaker.

Jim Kelly is an amazing athlete, leading the Buffalo Bills to four consecutive Super Bowls starting in 1991 through 1994. In 2002 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and his football jersey number 12 is the only number the Buffalo Bills have ever retired.  Not only is Jim Kelly an incredible athlete but he is also an amazing person. His son died when he was only 8 years old from Krabbe Disease.
