Follow on Google News | A|M Fitness' Community Celebration A SuccessBy: A|M Fitness On Tuesday October 22, 2013, Ethan, also known as Super Man to friends and family, was brought into the hospital for a third time. Approximately an hour later after a head scan was done, he was being life starred to Yale New Haven hospital with the diagnosis of a brain tumor. Upon arrival to Yale, he was escorted into an MRI where they discovered a large tumor that had spread under the cerebellum and around the left side of his brain. This cancerous tumor was set to be removed the next morning in an extensive, 12 hour brain surgery. One week after that terrifying day, Ethan remained hospitalized waiting on pathology reports to determine the type of cancer and the recommended path of treatment. A|M Fitness knew the long road ahead for Ethan and his family and wanted to do anything they could to help. The day started off with, for the first time ever, two charity workout sessions. These workout sessions were open to the public as well as its members. For every non member that attended the workout that day, A|M Fitness donated $5.00 per person toward Ethan's fundraiser. Following the workout sessions came a community pot luck lunch. Members, friends, and family all gathered together for a big feast as dishes were being brought in from members of the community and local businesses. This truly was an amazing time for the community to get to know one another as well as A|M Fitness. The day continued with raffles to raise money, plenty of free giveaways, and supplement demonstrations from two leading supplement vendors. The fitness facility also donated 10% off all the sales from their supplement shop. The highlight of the day was having Ethan, his mom Jennifer, and their family stop down to the facility to show their appreciation. Ethan was in great spirits and showed the community the courage and strength the two year old boy possessed. "Seeing his face made all the hard work worth it," said owner Michael Harland. The fitness facility felt the day was very successful and they enjoyed the time spent to get to know the community. The event allowed A|M Fitness to make a large donation to the McGettigan family which overall they felt was the greatest achievement. End
