Puppet Theater Founder Awarded Grant

Artist will partner with elementary school students and Poe Park Visitor Center to produce interactive community theater in the Bronx
 
BRONX, N.Y. - Jan. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Melissa Chernowetz, founder and artistic director of Dancing Lantern Shadow Theater, has been awarded a New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) grant on the individual artist tier.

The award was determined by a panel of New York City arts professionals and approved by Bronx Council on the Arts' Board of Directors for 2013-2014.

Funding supports the creation of an interactive, community-driven puppet show that will be possible to participate in regardless of spoken language. The show allows the diverse Bronx families to come together to perform a show about the changing seasons.The show will take place in June 2014.
