New Digital Magazine Vows To Kill The Manboob

Jan. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Over 20 million men in the UK are overweight or obese. By a process of relatively simple mathematics that means that there are over 40 million manboobs in the UK – a number which a new digital magazine Man V Fat has resolved to reduce to zero. Should they complete a successful crowdfunding round (www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-us-launch-a-free-weight-loss-digital-magazine-for-men) the free digital magazine promises to deliver a monthly dose of inspiration and motivation to men who want to lose weight.

“We have a situation in the UK where 65% of men are currently overweight or obese and the most recent figures show that by 2050 60% of UK men will be obese,” explains Man V Fat editor Andrew Shanahan. “That’s horrific enough by itself, but the truly terrifying thing is that these men have precisely no support if they do choose to lose weight.”

With existing magazines aimed either at female dieters or men who have already lost weight and want to build muscle – there is a massive gap in the market for a product which supports normal men who want to lose weight.

“Of course, you could go to your local weight loss group and be the one bloke there,” says Shanahan. “I’ve been that one bloke at the meetings before and although everyone is perfectly polite you can tell that it’s really only set up to support women; although I did learn a lot about how my time of the month can cause my weight to fluctuate.”

Man V Fat promises to share insights and advice from men who have lost weight, weight loss diaries, fun challenges and sensible advice about delicious, healthy food and drink choices and beginners’ routes into fitness. The magazine will be free and delivered direct to your iOS or Android device, removing the necessity for men to go into a newsagents to actually buy the magazine.

“I’ve lost three stones since 2011 and it’s been a huge learning curve for me,” explains Shanahan. “I thought that there would be more help out there – especially given the scope of the problem – but no matter where you look there’s just nothing to help normal men lose weight. I’m excited about bringing the Man V Fat magazine and website to guys who want to lose weight and finally give them a resource to help them beat fat and lose the manboobs.”
