CHICAGO - Jan. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- The BrainWare Company announced the continuation of the BrainWare Awareness Week Grants Program for a third consecutive year, leading up to the celebration of Brain Awareness Week, March 10-16, 2014.

In the first two years, licenses worth over $200,000 have been awarded to schools in the United States and Canada.  For 2014, an additional $100,000 worth of licenses for BrainWare SAFARI cognitive skills development software and SkateKids and Ramps To Reading cognitively based reading programs will be awarded

The grants program supports the purpose of Brain Awareness Week in promoting a broader understanding of the importance of brain research and its contribution to effective learning and cognitive development in schools.

Criteria for the grants include demonstration of ongoing efforts to promote awareness and understanding of the brain among students, teachers and parents; a commitment to effective program implementation; and assessing, documenting and sharing the impact of the program within the applicant’s community and with other educators and schools.

“Brain research has the potential to change education dramatically from an industrial-age model to an information-age model,” said Betsy Hill, President & COO of The BrainWare Company. “It is vital that educators understand the learning process, how to translate research into classroom practice, and how to support and improve students’ capacity to learn and think effectively.  This understanding will be indispensable in meeting the goals of the new Common Core Standards.  The BrainWare Safari Brain Awareness Week Grants Program is our way of contributing to broader awareness of the importance of brain research.”

The grant application process opens February 1, with a deadline of February 28. 2014.   Applications may be submitted online at http://www.mybrainware.com/who-we-help/educator/brain-awa....   Successful grant applicants will be announced during Brain Awareness Week, March 10-16, 2014.
