DETROIT - Jan. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Grosse Pointe natives, Shawn and Aaron Grose of Windmill Pointe Brewing Company, are returning to their hometown to conduct their second Mobile Brewing Event in Windmill Pointe Park at the Tompkins Community Center on February 15. The “pedal-powered beer” brothers will again employ their patent-pending brewing method in which the energy source is one hundred percent “off-the-grid”.

“Windmill Pointe Park has a history that very much parallels what we’re doing at Windmill Pointe Brewing”, stated Shawn Grose.  “As the site of a former grist mill, Windmill Pointe was a community gathering place for grinding grains.  Today, Windmill Pointe Brewing captures that same community spirit with our brewing events in which people come together to help brew beer.  Like a windmill, our “Pedal-powered” brewing system creates its own energy. We’re honored to gather and pay tribute to Grosse Pointe’s Windmill Pointe Park by brewing a 5-gallon batch of craft beer”.

“Beer, in and of itself, has a special way of bringing people together,” says Aaron Grose. “At Windmill Pointe Brewing, we’ve taken beer’s social qualities to a new level where our patrons are actively contributing to the making of the beer just like the former settlers of Grosse Pointe, who gathered at the Windmill Pointe grist mill to grind their grain.”

Windmill Pointe’s Mobile Brewing Event II is the second in a series of planned “Mobile Brewing” activities throughout 2014.  The first event, held at Eastern Market in December, signified the first time a beer had been brewed on the premises in over 25 years.

The Windmill Pointe Mobile Brewing Event II will commence at 4:00 p.m. at the Tompkins Community Center in Grosse Pointe’s Windmill Pointe Park.  Free Tickets can be obtained via Evenbrite www.eventbrite.com. During the brewing session, all are invited to participate by riding stationary bicycles to generate energy.

Windmill Pointe’s vision is to secure a permanent brewery location within the greater Detroit area in 2014.  “We see ourselves playing a large role in the community where we will eventually end up.  A successful crowd-funding campaign will be a key element in establishing a permanent brewery.  Until then, we’ll take advantage of our mobility and conduct brewing sessions in places of historic significance to the Detroit area.”
