A total of 18 TV production companies pitched proposals to the network and 6 were shortlisted. If successful, One Productions “FIRE” would air twice a week in 2015 and compete for viewership with RTE’S home grown and long standing soap Fair City. The winning show will have a budget in the millions of euro mark and would replace UK produced Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which would instead air on UTV’s upcoming Irish station.
Tom Hopkins, Owner, One Productions commented; “There is a wealth of drama talent in Dublin and across Ireland. Not just the cast but the full package of writers, crew and creative. We are eager to bring new talent to the small screen and highlight some of the amazing work the fire services do on a daily basis in our new gripping drama series “FIRE.” TV3 have announced that the majority of the successful applicants shortlisted submitted precinct-style soaps based around the work of the Gardaí and fire services. We know we are aware of the public pulse and what Irish viewers are interested in watching.”
The announcement of the shortlisting coincides with One Productions acquiring Arc Transmedia Partners. Arc Transmedia Partners has a number of projects on its development slate including its IFB and RTE, Australian and Scottish co-production “Megacorp”
