Former NFL player Anthony Dorsett, Jr. submitted credentials to be considered

for the Head Coach/Athlete Director at Independence High School in Frisco, Texas!

DALLAS - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Anthony Dorsett, Jr. submits his credentials to be considered for the most recent open position with Frisco ISD. Anthony’s passion for youth sports and well being; immediately responded and submitted this past Monday; with great passion for the youth and sport. As he awaits for Independence High School responds; Anthony will be hosting the 3rd annual People’s Health Spectacular.

This is a very exciting event to help kick off all the SUPER festivities taking place in and around New York for the big game. We want to remind residents and their families that while they are having a memorable time and enjoying all the city has to offer, it’s also a great time to keep your health and wellness top of mind.

This is a FREE community health event offering attendees the opportunity to obtain health and wellness information. Each attendee is provided the opportunity to receive over $1,000 in FREE health care screenings on site – it is like receiving a free physical. This event raises awareness about physical, mental, and oral health needs, and empowers individuals to adapt to healthier lifestyles. Together, with local health providers, hospitals, and medical staff, this event will provide the necessary health screenings, lots of family fun, fitness tips and education for children and adults. There will be prizes, free giveaways and lunch served for those who participate in the screenings.

The community is invited to join the FUN along with PHS and WBLS at the Madison Square Boys & Girls Navy Yard Clubhouse located at 240 Nassau Street in Brooklyn, onSaturday, February 1st for the health information, screenings, giveaways — and, of course, the special appearance from Anthony Dorsett, Jr. Come “chase health before wealth” with us!

About Anthony Dorsett, Jr.

Anthony Dorsett, Jr. is a former NFL player who was drafted in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers (now known as the Tennessee Titans). Anthony played four seasons with the Titans where he made his first Super Bowl appearance in 1999 as the starting free safety. He then joined the Oakland Raiders in 2000. During his four year tenure in Oakland, Dorsett and the Raiders won the AFC championship and appeared in Super Bowl XXXVII. Anthony further defined himself as an athlete competing in the USTA’s masters circuit. He won the Melrose Games Super 60 in 2010 and placed 2nd in 2011.

Along with competing in track, Anthony successfully transitioned from the NFL to a career in the entertainment industry where he has appeared in film and television. Dorsett starred as the character Shane in the independent film "Losing Faith" which was released in 2008. He has hosted BET's MADD Sports; appeared in multiple commercials; and was commentator/radio personality with WTN Sports Radio, in Nashville, TN. Anthony also hosted and participated in various award shows, such as the BET 25th Anniversary Show, NFL Network's Total Access, NCAACP Image Awards, and The Artie Clear Show. Most recently, he and his father, Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Hall of Famer inductee Tony Dorsett, appeared on the Monique Show and debuted their Dorsett Roundtable talk show on Fox Sports during Super Bowl week in February 2011. He also hosts The Dorsett Daily with Anthony & Kip, a weekly radio program on One Life Radio.


Mentoring and training are key aspects of Anthony’s eight year career in the NFL and in his daily work life. Committed to equipping and enhancing young people, Anthony trains, speaks and conducts camps throughout the U.S. most recently in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. He is excited to be a part of Champions 2 Heroes and to extend his reach to youth and their families. Anthony was born and raised in Aliquippa, PA.
