According to Dr. Fleck, “Continuing one’s education is a must in any profession. This is especially true in a career that does not have universal standards---like the unlicensed, grooming profession. My goal at the Groom & Kennel Expo is to educate grooming professionals and others about quality products, proper techniques, and up to the minute veterinary news that can assist them in maintaining and in providing positive pet health and safety for all pets left in their charge.”
On Friday evening, February 21, 2014, Dr. Fleck will be presenting a program entitled Avoiding Pet-Related Diseases and Epidemics. Dr. Fleck will be focusing on zoonotic disease (inter-transmissible diseases between humans and animals) and what grooming salons, kennels and retailers can do to protect pets, clients, and staff from potentially devastating health hazards.
The next morning, on Saturday, February 21, Dr. Fleck will be speaking on Procedures in Grooming and Skin Coat. This lecture will include a review of canine and feline anatomy; physiology to help groomers become more cognizant of different skin and coat types; and, a discussion of the value of ingredients as well as product selection.
In the afternoon of Saturday, February 21, Dr. Fleck will present on Ear Care by the Grooming Professional. During this seminar Dr. Fleck will discuss the anatomy and physiology of pet ears while highlighting the importance of proper ear cleaning technique with products that contain healthy ingredients. He will also spend time reviewing how groomers can recognize infection, infestation, and inflammation.
