American-Armenian Is Sochi Bound

NOVATO, Calif. - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Over the past year, American-Armenian slalom ski racer Arman Serebrakian should only have one thing on his mind - racing to qualify to represent Armenia for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. His journey has taken him all over of the world such as New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Europe, Armenia, and various locations in the United States. On January 21, 2014 Armenian Ski Federation Secretary General Gagik Sargsyan announced that Arman would be one of 4 athletes chosen to represent Armenia at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Born to an Armenian Family in America, Arman Serebrakian’s journey to Sochi 2014 started when he put on his first pair of skis at 2 years old. Arman joined the burgeoning Armenia ski team in 2009 where his competitive spirit, discipline and focus led him to be consistently ranked one of the top 500 slalom skiers in the world. A brief slip in his rankings caused him to miss his chance to compete in Vancouver in 2010. This time, he’s taken a year off of attending medical school at Temple University for the chance to represent Armenia in the Winter Olympics and bring attention to the sport of Skiing to Armenia. For the past year it's been no career, no personal life - just one goal - to qualify for Sochi 2014. To put Armenia on the map for slalom skiing.

"A strong support system has always been a part of my successes." says Serebrakian. He has been utlizing social media and fundraising events to help support the enormous cost of his journey. This campaign is not only to capture donations, but also to encourage fans to spread the word about the campaign through social media channels like Twitter and Facebook. In return, Serebrakian has been sharing the intimate details about his fight to qualify through images on Instagram and videos on Vimeo, allowing followers to participate in his journey to Sochi.
