Premium Garcinia Cambogia Extract. Can It Work For Everyone?

Why Did Dr. Oz Feature It On His Program? The Research Is In His Favor. Why Do Some Individuals Report No Significant Weight Loss?

PRLog - Jan. 29, 2014 - Dallas, GA - January 29, 2014 - When Dr.Oz featured Garcinia Cambogia Extract on his November 5/2012 TV show, he did so because he had studied the research and had talked to those involved in ongoing research. Claims made in the program and on his website include that "With proper weight-loss efforts (dieting and exercising), the average person taking HCA lost an average of four pounds a month". It was also stated that individuals taking a premium Garcinia Cambogia Extract (active ingredient HCA, Hydroxycitric acid), as well as being on a regimen of diet and exercise, lost two to three times as much weight as those who were on diet and exercise alone.

One authority, linked to on the Dr. Oz website, is PubMed, a publication of the National Institute of Health (NIH). Referring to Garcinia Cambogia Extract, combined with calcium and potassium, it said that it " has been shown to increase serotonin availability, reduce appetite, increase fat oxidation, improve blood lipid levels, reduce body weight, and modulate a number of obesity regulatory genes without affecting the mitochondrial and nuclear proteins required for normal biochemical and physiological functions". This finding confirms Dr. Oz's contention that Garcinia Cambogia works by blocking an enzyme that converts carbohydrates to fat (thereby causing the body to use fat for energy), and by increasing serotonin levels, leading to a decrease in what he calls "emotional eating".

Notice also the many other benefits of HCA: Apart from weight loss properties it also improves lipid numbers (cholesterol and triglycerides) and does all of this in a natural way with no interference with the normal functioning of body processes. The increased serotonin levels can even improve sleep patterns.

If the above is true (and studies confirm it) why do some individuals report very few, if any, benefits? There are two primary reasons for this:

1. The product is sub-standard. Dr. oz states that the Garcinia Cambogia Extract you choose should have at least 50% HCA, no fillers additives or preservatives, a vegetable capsule, calcium and/or potassium to increase absorption, and a daily dose of at least 1500 mg.daily. Upper Sprifngs premium Garcinia Cambogia meets and exceeds all of these recommendations.

2. Not only should the product meet these standards but it must absolutely be taken on an empty stomach. Researchers stress that a capsule should be taken 30-60 minutes before a meal .This ensures that the active ingredient is at a maximum concentration while the meal is digesting. Otherwise, the HCA is not effective.

It is also important that individuals do not engage in increasing caloric intake, believing that the HCA will negate the effects of this indiscretion. As usual, with any weight loss supplement, a reasonable regimen of diet and exercise should accompany the supplement.

In conclusion, research indicates that the active ingredient (HCA) of Garcinia Cambogia Extract, when taken as directed, and when combined with diet and exercise, leads to gradual sustained weight loss and also leads to better sleep patterns, improved lipid levels and better body conformation (muscle replacing fat).
