A junior at James E. Taylor High School, Xu is passionate about music, reading and computer technology, or in his words, “anything related to computers.” An accomplished pianist, he competes in University Interscholastic League (UIL) piano competitions, volunteers at his local library and participates in group organizations such as National Honor Society and Music RX, a group of musicians who perform at nursing homes and hospitals.
Although Kevin hopes to one day pursue a doctorate in engineering, he is not overly concerned with the material compensation such a prestigious achievement might entail, saying, “I don’t necessarily want to be extremely rich, but rather have a stable, enjoyable job.”
On the role Test Masters played in Kevin’s SAT preparation, he says, “I don’t feel like I would have achieved a perfect score without Test Masters. I learned many valuable tips and strategies for the SAT; in particular, Exam Club (which I went to every week for nearly 3 months) helped me become more familiar with the SAT and the types of questions on the test.”
As he draws closer to high school graduation, Kevin has turned his attention once again to the future. Though Kevin is unsure about the details, like what university he will attend and which field of engineering he will study, he is sure that his ultimate goal is to one day be a successful engineer. To further that end, and in recognition of his accomplishment, Test Masters has awarded Kevin a $1,000 scholarship.
Kevin is one of three Test Masters students to achieve a perfect score on the October 2013 SAT, all of whom will be rewarded with a Perfect Score Scholarship.
