Atty Tatelbaum Named 2014 Bankruptcy Lawyer of the Year for So Fl

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Jan. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney CharlesM. Tatelbaum, a Partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been named the 2014 Bankruptcy Lawyer of the Year for South Florida by Leaders in Law, the awards program of Lifestyle Media Group.

In its inaugural year, The Leaders in Law awards program was created by Lifestyle Media Group to honor lawyers, law firms and corporate general counsel who have achieved excellence in law, maintained the highest level of ethics, shown commitment to their communities and established themselves as proven leaders. Candidates for the award were judged on outstanding litigation skill, advocacy, counseling and advancements to the legal profession, as well as contributions to the advancement of the bar. The judging committee consisted of five professors from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center and Huizinga Business School and results were monitored by an independent CPA firm. Tatelbaum received the award at the first annual Leaders in Law award ceremony on January 21, 2014 at Nova Southeastern University’s Miniaci Theater.

Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy by The Florida Bar, Tatelbaum focuses his practice on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, complex business litigation, Uniform Commercial Code transactions and litigation and other types of secured transactions, and domestic and international letters of credit. He represents secured and unsecured creditors, as well as creditors’ committees, throughout the U.S. in complex business litigation, bankruptcy proceedings and products liability defense based on warranty. He also represents secured and unsecured creditors in distressed business transactions and litigation as well as defending directors and officers in bankruptcy proceedings.

Active in the community, Tatelbaum is a former chairman of the Board of Friends of WLRN, the public TV and radio stations for South Florida. In 2012, he received the Arts Heroes Award from the Arts and Business Council of South Florida and the Miami Beach Arts Trust for his work promoting arts and culture in South Florida. He is an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and  is a member of the Board of Visitors of the Francis King Carey School of Law at the University of Maryland.

Recognized by his peers in the legal community, Tatelbaum has been named to multiple editions of "Best Lawyers in America," holds AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for ethics and legal ability, and was named “Most Effective Lawyer in Bankruptcy” in 2007 by the Daily Business Review.
