LCBO stores raise funds for The Hearing Foundation of Canada

TORONTO - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Starting February 2, the public can help support The Hearing Foundation of Canada by making a donation at any of the more than 635 LCBO stores throughout Ontario. Donation boxes for The Hearing Foundation of Canada will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until March 1.

The Hearing Foundation of Canada is committed to eliminating the devastating effects of hearing loss on the quality of life of Canada, particularly youth, by promoting prevention, early diagnosis, leading-edge medical research and successful intervention. The donations made through the LCBO’s Provincial Donation Box Program will help to advance hearing health initiatives across Ontario. The Hearing Foundation has been delivering Sound Sense, a noise-induced hearing loss prevention education program, in Ontario, since 2005 and has taught approximately 300,000 children to save their hearing for the music.

The Hearing Foundation of Canada is one of 28 provincial and numerous local charities that will benefit from LCBO’s province-wide donation box program in 2014. In 2012, LCBO raised a total of more than $6.6 million for charities through special programs and initiatives, of which $6.1 million was raised through in-store fundraising. In addition, LCBO’s annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government, which totaled $1.7 billion in fiscal 2012-13, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of important government programs, services and priorities, including health care and education.

The Hearing Foundation of Canada thanks the public for its support when shopping at their local LCBO store from February 2 - March 1, 2014.
