LONDON - Jan. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- The 3 day event will feature 2 days’ worth of presentations from leading pioneers in the drug design arena including; D. E. Shaw Research, Pfizer, Roche, MedImmune, Astex Pharmaceuticals, Bayer HealthCare, Sanofi-Aventis, Novartis, plus an interactive post conference workshop on Fragment based approaches to lead discovery which will be led by Lee Walmsley, Senior Team Lead, Medicinal Chemistry from Vernalis.

Those joining the event will also be able to take part in a networking drinks reception hosted on the end of Day 1 by lead sponsor, Chemical Computing Group which will take place at the Marriott Regents Park Hotel in central London.

The 13th annual event will allow attendees to network with a truly global audience to discuss, debate and share ideas and challenges facing the drug design arena. Key areas to be addressed will include structure based drug design, water applications, fragment based drug design, lead optimisation challenges and molecular design. The conference agenda can be viewed at http://www.smi-online.co.uk/goto/2014drugdesign57.asp (http://www.smi-online.co.uk/goto/2014drugdesign.asp?emref...)

Dr Neil Press, Director GDC from Novartis, who will be speaking on PDE4 inhibitors commented, “The Advances And Progress in Drug Design conference deals with the latest ideas and developments in tackling important and difficult targets for medical intervention. The range of talks, including a focus on fragment based drug discovery, the role of water and new modelling and crystallisation techniques, will be of widespread industry interest. A resurgence of interest in chemically modified proteins and the development of tools for emerging areas such as epigenetics highlights the transformative role that medicinal chemists can have in deconvoluting early biology.”
