By: National Institute for Bariatric Repair This new endoscopic weight loss procedure is done in an outpatient setting and involves no external cuts, minimal pain and a quick recovery. For this study, the stomach is accessed through the mouth (not the abdomen) using an endoscope with suturing equipment. The stomach is remodeled and reduced to a narrow sleeve using sutures and the volume of the stomach is restricted. This allows patients to feel full after eating small portions of food, similar to traditional weight loss surgery. All subjects will be followed for a period of 12 months. Participants must meet eligibility criteria to participate in the study. A variety of health related issues are taken into account including, but not limited to, current Body Mass Index (a measure of your height and weight), medical history, and medications.
