The Inland Marine Underwriters Association [IMUA] Unveils Agenda For 2014 Annual Meeting

NEW YORK - Jan. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- The Inland Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA)announced its 2014 Conference Agenda for the Association 84^th Annual Meeting to be held May 18-21, 2014 in Austin, TX.

Kicking off the IMUA educational agenda will be an in-depth outlook for the property and casualty industry focusing on the inland marine line of business.  This year’s keynote speaker Dr. Robert Hartwig, President, Insurance Information Institute will address this subject.

With continuing emphasis on professional development, IMUA announced that this year’s Annual Meeting includes a “Parallel Track” to its traditional educational programming.  The “Parallel Track” is specifically geared toward newer, less experienced inland marine underwriting and claims personnel.

In making the announcement, IMUA President and CEO, Kevin O’Brien, said, “We are extremely excited about this year’s Annual Meeting agenda.  Our Education Committee has put together a wide variety of topics that were most requested by our membership.  And, they have secured experienced and knowledgeable professionals to address each.”

The topics for the IMUA 84^th Annual Meeting are as follows:

·      -Renewable Energy: Transit and Builders Risk Exposures

·      -Builders Risk and Multi-Story Wood Construction

·      -The Changing Role of the Players in Warehousing and Transit

·      -Lessons From Losses

·      -NAT/CAT Flood Issues

“Our ‘Parallel Track,’ which consists of a series of seminars and workshops patterned specifically after our Introduction to Inland Marine Course, will also be offered at our Austin meeting.   It will run parallel to the more in-depth educational sessions offered during the Annual Meeting.  Successfully implemented several years ago, it is geared to those new to, or less experienced in, commercial inland marine insurance.  Those attending the ‘Parallel Track’ will also have access to our general sessions including the kick-off, keynote session.”

The Parallel Track subjects to be covered are:

·      -Introduction to Inland Marine

·      -The Basics of Builders Risk

·      -Understanding Contractors Equipment

·      -Transportation Insurance
