Follow on Google News | Business Desktop sales increase by +10.7% across WE distribution in Q413By: Fundamental Communications The increase followed on from a +1.5% year-on-year growth in Q313, while the first half of the year had seen quarterly year-on-year declines. “The improvement in the business Desktop performance throughout 2013 and the return of the category to an actual growth path in the second half of the year were partly driven by a lengthy period of softer sales and weak IT investment across the region last year”, said Marie-Christine Pygott, senior analyst at CONTEXT. “This is particularly evident in countries which suffered most strongly such as Spain.” Nevertheless, PC vendors over the past few quarters have commented on an increasing stability in their Desktop sales, and all of the top vendors in distribution were able to leverage the year-on-year improvement in the business Desktop segment in Q413. HP as the strongest vendor saw sales go up by +7.9% during the period while second-placed Lenovo increased volumes by +11.5%, Fujitsu by +12.1% and Acer by +14.9%. “We have seen an increasing stability as there is a need for refreshes amongst the large Desktop installed bases across many of the countries, and this is also partly driven by the end of XP support”, Pygott added.
