About Mrs. Vanitha Babu (Principal  and Secretary – Mathruka Nikethan Education Trust):

A social entrepreneur in her own right, Mrs. Vanitha Babu is the Principal and Secretary of ‘Mathruka Nikethnan Education Trust’, situated in the nondescript by-lanes of Byappanahalli in Bangalore. The school provides primary and middle school education to about 500 children in the neighbourhood.

A teacher by profession, Mrs. Vanitha Babu always believed in giving to society, which she chose to do through education. Dedication and determination aside, she has been able to pursue her passion owing to the unrelenting support and encouragement she received from her family.

A brief of the event:

Formal education still is not considered a priority by a large section of the Indian society. Therefore, supporting children's education is integral to create employability.

Over the last 27 years, Mrs. Vanitha Babu has successfully created opportunities for employment and empowerment of women and she will share with us, her experience of overcoming the various challenges that she faced.
