ADRC, Inc. To Present 2014 Speaker Series For Alzheimer’s Disease Assi

Sessions to Help Those with Alzheimer’s Disease and Their Caregivers

Jan. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- (Bay Shore, NY)— Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (http://www.adrcinc.org/) (ADRC) is organizing a series of seven informational sessions throughout 2014 for those who are seeking innovative facts and information concerning Alzheimer’s Disease. The sessions will review vital information, such as new Alzheimer’s Disease research, musical stimulation, and brain exercises to prevent memory loss.

Below are the various sessions that will be presented throughout the year at different locations:

“Meet the Doctors” presented by Mark Stecker, MD, PhD. Session will be held on February 26 at Brandywine Senior Living at the Savoy, located at 55-15 Little Neck Parkway in Little Neck from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Working Together—Partnering With the Person with Dementia” presented by Melanie Bunn, RN. Session will take place on April 28 at Winthrop University Hospital’s Dr. Martin Spatz Conference Center located at 259 1st Street in Mineola from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Ask the Expert” Update on Newest Alzheimer’s Research presented by Ana C. Pereira, M.D. Informational session will be held on May 29 at Atria Senior Living, located at 165 Beverly Road in Huntington from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Forever Love” A Thousand Tomorrows presented by Maureen Clinton, FACCS, LMFT. Session will take place on June 4 at The Bristal, located at 129 Lakeland Avenue in Sayville from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Training the Brain” Preventing Memory Loss presented by Joan Lewis, MA on September 10. Session will be held at the Atria Senior Living, located at 112-50 72nd Avenue in Forest Hills from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“A Drive Through The Ages” Safe Driving For Seniors presented by Mr. Chuck Conroy on October 15. Session will be held at the HamptonBaysSeniorCenter, located at 25 Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Project Far From Home” Using Rescue Dogs to Address Wandering and At-Risk Behaviors for Persons with Alzheimer’s presentedby Kimberly R. Kelly, Retired Law Enforcement Reserve Lieutenant. Session will be on November 8 at Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc., located at 45 Park Avenue in Bay Shore from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“We are excited about the Speaker Series in 2014,” says Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. “These informational sessions will provide more support for those who care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. They need as much support and information as possible, due to the increase in the senior citizen population in years to come.”
