This not-to-be-missed event is ART PAPERS’ largest fundraiser with all proceeds going to support its programs including the award-winning ART PAPERS magazine, the ART PAPERS LIVE! lecture series and exciting new technology and educational initiatives. The purchase of artwork also goes to support the artists in the auction who have generously donated all or most of the proceeds from their work in support of ART PAPERS’ mission.
WHAT: The 15th Annual ART PAPERS Art Auction will feature an impressive showcase of work by famed and emerging artists from around the world benefitting ART PAPERS’ award-winning programs. This see and be seen event, features live music or DJ, fabulous people watching, collection-worthy art, high-end cocktails, plus hors d’oeuvres and desserts provided by some of Atlanta’s finest restaurants.
Each year, ART PAPERS welcomes a broad scope of artists working in a variety of media including photography, painting, drawing and sculpture. Recognized artists committed for 2014 include Pam Longobardi this year’s winner of the $50,000 Hudgens Prize, the winners of the 2013/2014 MOCA GA Working Artist Project E.K. Huckaby, Scott Ingram, and Fahamu Pecou (who also guest edited the January/February issue of ART PAPERS magazine), and past winners such as Jiha Moon, Katherine Taylor, and Shara Hughes, internationally acclaimed Atlanta graffiti artist Alex Brewer (a.k.a. HENSE); winners of the first ever $100,000 national Herradura Tequila Barrel Art Competition, Atlanta’s own Micah and Whitney Stansell, and rising stars on the Atlanta scene such as Nathan Sharratt and Jason Kofke, as well as national artists including Brian Dettmer, Shirley Irons (in the 2014 Whitney Biennial), and Mira Schor.

At the Silent Auction + Party, attendees will vie for new works for their collections during the auction and enjoy sounds by Tim DeGroot of Rare Form DJ Crew, a photo booth that puts guests on the cover of ART PAPERS magazine, a cash bar and bites from popular Atlanta restaurants including: Campagnolo Restaurant + Bar, Fritti, Henry’s Midtown Tavern, Sotto Sotto, Escorpión, Tin Drum Asia Café, Bad Dog Taqueria and Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View.
