A memorial service for Minnesota’s legendary Jazz organist, Lincoln Berry Jr., will be held on Saturday, January 25, in Saint Paul. Berry passed on Monday, January 20, at the University of Minnesota Hospital after a short fight with cancer. Lincoln Berry Jr. was featured frequently at the Dakota Jazz Club and the Artist Quarters and, Lincoln Berry Jr. performed with local well known local artists such as Billy Steele, Mike Ferguson, Debbie Duncan, Bobby Lyle, the late Captain Jack McDuff, Billy Peterson and more. Throughout his musical career Berry worked with national and internationally acclaimed artists such as the Little Richard, B B King, the Ohio Players, Billy Preston; and gospel recording artists such as The Clark Sisters and others.
Lincoln was born in Saint Paul Minnesota on January 13, 1940. In 1950 his family moved to what is now called Blaine, MN and he graduated from Anoka High School in 1959. He moved to Dayton Ohio in the early 60’s. He is survived by six siblings, eight children, and a hosts of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Berry will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 10 A.M. at the River of Life Christian Church, 739 Summit Avenue in Saint Paul.
