Educating for Exchange: Opportunities for India-U.S. Diplomacy Workshop in India

NEW YORK - Jan. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Cultural Vistas seeks U.S.-based international educators to submit video testimonials for a one-day workshop in India in March 2014. The workshop, generously funded by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, will be held in Bangalore on March 11 and in Chennai on March 13.

During the "Educating for Exchange" workshop, international affairs officers from Indian universities and institutions will explore models of international exchange that will prepare them to engage with U.S. universities and students for academic and work-based exchanges, both inbound and outbound.

As India continues to not only send students to the United States, but to accommodate an increasing number of young U.S. leaders each year, Indian and U.S. educational institutions will need to work together to provide programs that not only meet students' needs, but also contribute to diplomacy and the building of positive relations between the two countries.

U.S.-based professionals who have experienced India via study or work abroad, as well as international affairs officers at U.S. universities who can provide perspective on the importance of internationalization in general, will participate in a virtual component of the workshop.

The workshop will conclude with a toolkit that attendees can take back to their universities to begin building institutional partnerships.

Cultural Vistas is specifically looking for educators who can speak to one or more of the following topics:

Theories, cases and advocacy for internationalization and exchange;
U.S. models for program development, preferably with India;
Experience in implementing an international programs office in the U.S.;
Interest, prospects and infrastructure requirements for developing exchange programs with India;
Experience in developing orientations for international students coming to the United States
Experience in developing reciprocal exchange programs.

Cultural Vistas encourage educators from all career levels and across U.S. institutions (including program providers) to participate in the virtual component.

To be considered, please send us a one page proposal with the following information by February 10, 2014:

Full name and contact information,
Title and institution/organization,
Motivation for participating in the workshop (ca. 50 words),
Outline of the testimonial and selected topics (ca. 100 words),
Narrative description of relevant experience (ca. 150 words).

From all submissions, we will invite several individuals to submit a short video testimonial (3-5 minutes) for the workshop, or to participate live via video conferencing.
