By: The Social Syndicate It was announced last year that actor Vin Diesel would reprise the great television role of Lieutenant Theo Kojak originally played by Telly Savalas. While Kojak fans wait for the final motion picture, attendees at Muse on Rodeo next week will get a rare chance to hear what it was like to work on the original Kojak series with Telly Savalas, and how crime fiction in literature, both fiction and non-fiction, has emerged and why detectives, thriller and suspense novels continue to fascinate readers. Guests include bestselling authors Gregg Hurwitz and Miles Corwin. Kevin Dobson portrayed Det. Bobby Crocker from 1973 to 1978, and later reunited with Savalas for the 1990 TV movie, Kojak: It's Always Something. He has also played Detective Leo McCarthy in F/X: The Series. Gregg Hurwitz has written twelve novels in the last decade and penned screenplays for Disney, Paramount, MGM and other major studios, and served as writer and consulting producer on ABC’s “V.” And he didn’t stop there. As a New York Times Bestselling author, Gregg continues to publish critically acclaimed novels and earn the top awards in the genre, including nominations for the ITW Thriller Award and CWA’s Silver Dagger Award. His ability to grab readers from the opening sentence and create compelling characters thrust into extraordinary circumstances has earned him a place among the top thriller writers of his time. Miles Corwin is a former crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, and is the author of three nonfiction books: The Killing Season, a national bestseller; And Still We Rise, the winner of the PEN West Award for nonfiction and a Los Angeles TimesBest Book of the Year; and Homicide Special, aLos Angeles Times bestseller.
