An innovative British woman, who left the corporate world in Europe and the United States to start her own holistic wellness business in Dominica, is now attracting enchanted clients from all over the world. Now she is available for public speaking engagements.
A year ago Martha Cuffy created Primal Spa, a product of Wellness Architects, in lush botanical gardens with hot mineral pools in Dominica famed for its dramatic vistas and healing waters.
Over the years Martha has discovered powerful healing spots around the island. Her clients shed layers of stress and tension as they experience a variety of healing practices and treatments intuitively tailored to restore inner peace and vitality.
The lure of the Nature Island’s mesmerizing topography where weary souls travel from afar to plug into the island’s soothing volcanic energy, kept calling her back.
Her clients include honeymooners, healers - both medical and energy practitioners - and women in transition seeking physical, emotional and spiritual re
Martha, 44, arrived in Dominica six years ago wanting to design experiences under Wellness Architects that are founded on the island’s natural healing beauty to relieve stressed professionals.
She is familiar with their challenges having studied an MBA and worked in corporate finance for Deloitte and for dotcom entrepreneurs in Paris, Berlin, London and San Francisco. She offers a unique holistic approach to health and wellness, drawing on her leadership consulting and wellness experiences worldwide.
Her Primal Spa experience set the spiritual scene for the lead story on Dominica in Travel and Leisure magazine in December 2013. “I decided to create a meditative nature spa experience in a magical Edenesque rainforest garden to stimulate all the senses - sound, touch, smell, taste and sight of here and beyond in a way that both calms and transforms the soul. Nature has gentle ways of touching and expressing our deepest essence,” Martha says.
The desire to value the healing heritage and the wisdom of Dominica’s many centenarians on what she considers a living spa is what inspired Martha to become President of the Dominica Spa, Health & Wellness Association, D-SHWA Inc.
As well as being a leading authority in holistic living Martha is a published writer, with her work featuring in publications across the Caribbean such as Maco Caribbean. She is also invited to speak and lead workshops on a variety of topics and conducts leadership and personal development retreats wherever her clients invite her. Previous venues outside Dominica have included Windsor Castle in England and a spa resort in Turkey.
Martha was a trustee director of the Iyengar Yoga Institute before spending two years at the world’s first yoga university in India, winning first prize for her MA in Yoga Psychology. For the past 20 years she has immersed herself in combining aspects of natural healing, energy practices and wellness methods with leadership consulting and coaching.
She has also undertaken extensive training in coaching and organizational systems facilitation, Human Design and Gene Keys systems.
Martha is attracting much praise locally and internationally and is raising Dominica’s profile as a must-visit wellness destination.
