As founder and President of Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Rev Jackson is one of America’s foremost civil rights, political and religious leaders. Rev. Jackson founded Rainbow Sports 20 Years ago to level the playing field in sports on and off the playing field. Over the past 40 years, the Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient has played a vital role in virtually every movement for empowerment, peace, civil rights, gender equality, and economic and social justice. Rev Jackson has been called the “Conscience of the Nation”, challenging America to be inclusive and to establish just and humane priorities for the benefit of all.
Internationally known NBA analyst Chris Broussard and Emmy award-winning journalist and sports anchor, Molly Qerim will co-host of the 5th Annual John Wooten Leadership Awards as part of the Taste of the Game – New York presented by the National Sports Authority during SUPER BOWL XLVIII weekend.
The John Wooten Leadership Awards recipients include D’Brickashaw Ferguson of the New York Jets, winner of the Pro Leadership Award, in recognition of a lifetime commitment to service and unparalleled leadership on and off the field; Jerry Reese, General Manager of the New York Giants winner of the Executive Leadership Award in recognition of his commitment to excellence and Super Bowl leadership. The Community Leader Award will be presented to Garvey Schubert Barer and honor the efforts of the firm’s late friend and colleague, Keven Davis for their longstanding and unwavering commitment to diversity. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to CBS Sports Anchor, James Brown in recognition of his lifetime commitment to excellence and community service.
Nnamdi Asomugha, former All-Pro NFL Player and Chairman of the Asomugha Foundation will also serve as this year’s honorary host. “We are honored to have Nandi Asomugha, Chris Broussard and Molly Qerim join us as we spotlight these outstanding individuals who are making a difference in their communities.”
The John Wooten Leadership Awards are presented annually to the professional football player, NFL executive and sports personality whose play, community service and extracurricular activities best exemplify the leadership and vision of John Wooten, whose NFL career has spanned over 50 years as a player and front office executive. Affectionately known as the “Godfather”
The JWL Awards were established by Southern California-based ESP Education & Leadership Institute as a way to recognize the many contributions of John Wooten to the game of football and his efforts in promoting diversity and equality of job opportunity in the coaching, front office and scouting staffs of NFL teams.

In addition to the JWL Awards, the Taste of the Game 2014 events held during Super Bowl XLVIII will benefit the D’Brickashaw Ferguson Foundation, Asomugha Foundation and National Sports Authority, a division of ESP Education & Leadership Institute. All are non-profit 501 (c) (3) organizations.
