January 23, 2014–Boca Raton, Fla. – For dog enthusiasts dreaming of seeing their pet on the silver screen, in a magazine or on the runway, America’s Top Dog Model ® Golden Paw Awards reveals how a national contest has launched numerous dogs’ modeling careers. The show is schedule to air on WPTV-5 West Palm Beach, Sunday February 9, 2014 at 1 – 1:30 PM.

Jo Jo Harder is the founder of America’s Top Dog Model ® Contest, establishedin 2005 and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. It is a national search for topdogs that make a difference™. Now in its ninth season, the competition was created for people to celebrate the union that humans share with their canine companions. Winners are featured in the annual America’s Top Dog Model ® Calendar, and in the pages of Harder’s new book How to Become a Top Dog Model (TriMark Press, 2013). In this canine modeling guide, readers learn the “do’s and don’ts” of dog modeling from the career-launching tales of America’s Top Dog Models.

Drawing on her experience as a fashion designer, stylist, former model, author of Diva Dogs: A Style Guide to Living a Fabulous Life (BowTie, 2008), Harder’s new guide highlights insider information on modeling, agencies, training, grooming, and features a peek into the lifestyles of America’s Top Dog Models.®

The inaugural America’s Top Dog model ® Golden Paw Awards took place at Dynamic TV Studio in Boyton Beach, Florida in front of a live studio audience for a reality TV series now in development.

The ceremony, which included a reception and canine walks down the red carpet, honored fifteen winners and finalists who, with the aid of their humans, have supported community events and charities nationwide.

It acknowledges pooches that have “made a difference in an extraordinary way,” explains Harder, the show creator, who lives in Boca Raton with Romeo, her Miniature Italian Greyhound. Categories included “Most Courageous,”  “Best in Show” and “Most Angelic.”  The “Volunteer of the Year Award” went to Little Lovey, a therapy dog who has visited more than 500 care facilities.

America’s Top Dog Model ® 2014 Contest is under way and runs from January 15 to April 30. The contest theme is Healthy Paws.
