Lori Barkus named Lifestyle Media Group’s 2014 Leaders in Law finalist

Jan. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Lori Barkus, founder of Barkus Law (http://www.barkuslaw.com/) in Weston, was named a finalist for Lifestyle Media Group’s 2014 “Leaders in Law Awards.” Barkus was nominated in the area of family law.

“It is an honor to be selected for this recognition and to be included on this list alongside well-regarded attorneys throughout South Florida,” Barkus said.

Barkus has 15 years of legal experience. For the last eight years, she has been a solo practitioner handling matters relating to divorce, custody, child support, paternity, collaborative divorce, adoption, parental rights, and family law and civil mediation. She believes in collaboration over adversity, encouraging clients to work together to reach a fair and equitable agreement that not only is best for the divorcing parties, but also for children of divorce when they are involved.

The Leaders in Law Awards program was created by Lifestyle Media Group to honor lawyers, law firms and corporate general counsel who have achieved excellence in law, maintained the highest level of ethics, shown commitment to their communities and established themselves as proven leaders.

Candidates were judged on outstanding litigation skill, advocacy, counseling and advancements to the legal profession, as well as contributions to the advancement of the bar such as public service, bar association activities and pro bono work. Other factors considered include: involvement in significant legal cases; recognized legal expertise; innovation in client care; value of transactions, deals and cases; and previous accolades and awards. Nominees were reviewed and final honorees selected by a judging committee of legal professionals.

Lori Barkus is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil and Family Law mediator and guardian ad litem. She handles matters relating to divorce, custody, child support, paternity, collaborative divorce, adoption, parental rights, and family law and civil mediation.

Ms. Barkus is a cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Florida, Georgia and the District of Columbia, as well as in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Appeals. She is also a member of Leading Women for Shared Parenting.
