If you are not aware, spammers and robots are constantly searching the web for vulnerable forms. By vulnerable we mean no "Captcha".
What is Captcha?
CAPTCHA Defined: Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart
CAPTCHA is a script or program that serves to protect web pages against bots. Captchas use a verification "test" that a human can pass but a bot will not. For example, humans can read distorted text but web bots cannot. There are many free Captcha programs available but many are just, annoying! Not to mention, Most are very complicated, and have large file structures.
DiY Web Pages Developers, Opulentworx, have created a much more compact, yet effective CAPTCHA solution.
Our captcha presents a simple math problem to the web user. Our captcha uses PHP, a server side scripting language that is processed out of reach of spam bots, to select two random numbers between 1 and 10. The Captcha program requires that a user input the sum of these two random numbers. The random numbers are displayed as an image on the website instead of text, and are associated in a coded way so that web robots will be confused.
The entire captcha file that DiY Web Pages offers is only 9.6k in it's zipped folder! What's more? If your web users can add any numbers between 1 and 10 they can successfully navigate your forms without refreshing new captchas or listening to bandwidth consuming audio files!
