nProtect warns downloading of adware can lead to online fraud incidents

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 23, 2014 - SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose, California—nProtect, Inc., a global leader in Internet security solutions, announces malware spread by adware spawned a number of cybercrimes such as memory hacking and pharming used in online financial fraud incidents. Moreover, the operating server and module of adware were exploited by cyber criminals to spread such malware.

By modifying the operating server and module of adware, cyber criminals spread such malwares by inserting the malwares in ads to be spread by automatic update procedures. Cyber criminals used advanced and sophisticated hacking methods to spread malwares without using web monitoring procedures such as drive by download and surveillance of detecting sensors.

nProtect Research Lab announced that recently reported malware contained a code that collected login information of online banking users as well as online game users. Cyber criminals often attacked servers of adware companies or modified the files to spread the malwares.

In order to prevent such attacks, nProtect Research Lab recommends users not download adware from unofficial websites such as blogs where malware is often inserted in applications. Websites used by cyber criminals  abuse file search value of portal website to display their sites on top when the users search the application in order to widely spread and install popular applications containing malware.

According to the nProtect Research Lab, once infected adware is installed into the user’s computer, it is more likely to direct visitors to fraudulent banking websites. In order to prevent such incidents, nProtect Research Lab highly recommends using antivirus software, including online banking security software for end users such as nProtect Online Security. Moreover, regular updates of security software are crucial action to protect themselves from the latest malwares causing online fraud incidents.
