PRLog - Jan. 23, 2014 - LEXINGTON, Ky. -- In recognition of African-American/Black History and Heart Awareness month, the Embry family of Bluegrass/Central Kentucky is hosting the Embry Family Book Signing & Art Exhibit—21 Century Thinking & Reimagining at the Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center.

This event includes a little something for everyone. There will be books sold and/or signed by the authors, a photo and painting exhibit, spoken word and musical performances, healthy and delicious food sampling & presentations by the extended Embry family of Central Kentucky (and Tennessee).

During this two-day event, we will honor and give special recognition to our dear 90 year-old family member, Mrs. Bessie Johnson of Madison County, and her award winning paintings depicting Black life. She will be present to provide insight into her colorful and historical paintings and her long creative life.

Maya Hinton (KY) will share stories and recipes from Recipes & Remembrances: The Embry Family Cookbook. Spoken word artists Tiffany Bellfield and Vibration Kunvorted will entertain with lyrical lessons. Father Jim (KY) and son Obiora Embry will share their photographs. Saxophonist Vaughn Gillispie (OH) will provide the musical background and visual art.
