This event includes a little something for everyone. There will be books sold and/or signed by the authors, a photo and painting exhibit, spoken word and musical performances, healthy and delicious food sampling & presentations by the extended Embry family of Central Kentucky (and Tennessee).
During this two-day event, we will honor and give special recognition to our dear 90 year-old family member, Mrs. Bessie Johnson of Madison County, and her award winning paintings depicting Black life. She will be present to provide insight into her colorful and historical paintings and her long creative life.
Brothers Irucka Ajani (TN) and Obiora Embry (KY) and their mother, Dr. Deborah Mapp-Embry (KY), will read from and sign their books. Maya Hinton (KY) will share stories and recipes from Recipes & Remembrances:
