Follow on Google News | Cutting-Edge Appliances for Your Chicago Luxury Home or CondoBy: Sheldon Salnick This year’s Consumer Electronics Show just ended, and it was exciting to see the coverage of new items designed to improve luxury homes and be integrated with smartphones and tablets. The Wall St. Journal recently highlighted (http://stream.wsj.com/ Meet the Dacor Discover iQ and the Blacksumar Piper: Dacor Discovery iQ: This interconnected oven is expected to be available this summer. The Dacor Discovery iQ connects to the internet through a built-in Android tablet and can then be controlled using a smartphone. The built-in tablet can be used to download recipes from the web, play cooking videos or run apps to manage cooking techniques. The oven can even send a message when a dish is done or receive a text to preheat the oven on your way home from work. The Dacor Discover iQ will retail for about $12,000. Blacksumar Piper: Available this month and just $239, the Blacksumar Piper is a hub for your home, with a fisheye camera for a live panoramic view of what’s going on while you’re away. It also has temperature and humidty sensors and an alarm. You can then use a smartphone or table to command different parts of your home when you’re not there, especially if you pair it with things like door sensors, motion detectors and light controls. Working With a Chicago Real Esate Agent Who is In The Know While the latest gadgets and gizmos may not seem like the top of the news for Chicago real estate, I believe it’s very relevant for those who follow real estate news. It is more than knowing neighborhoods and home values that separates a luxury real estate agent from the rest. Staying up to date on technology and home trends helps me and my clients understand the value of certain home trends and understand what today’s (and tomorrow’s) This is the type of service I aim to bring to all of my clients, especially those who are building Chicago new construction properties. There are a couple of things I think are extremely important for a real estate agent to do during this process: 1. Work with the developer: I know all of the high-end luxury Chicago real estate developers and have represented many of them. This allows me know what certain developers may be able to negotiate on, or who has expereince in the neighborhoods and home styles you’re looking for and make personal recommendations to my clients. 2. See the process through: If you are building a Chicago new construction property, there are many different parties involved, like the builder, architect, interior designer, and financial professionals. I stay involved with all of these groups and provide input that will benefit you as a client. Very few realtors will hold your hand all the way to the end–especially if they are obtaining their commission up front. But I will ensure you get proposals developed, that you’re getting an attorney’s feedback where needed and ensure that your best interests are kept in mind through the entire process. If you’re interested in upgrading your home or building Chicago real estate that incorporates features like these, give me a call. I’d love to show you some examples of what’s hot on the home market in 2014. Contact me at (312) 264-5853, email me at ssalnick@rubloff.com or visit http://www.sheldonchicago.com/ End
