LONDON - Jan. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Organized by genre, the site, currently, features Ceramics, Drawing and Painting. Each section has galleries showing the work of an individual artist. – At present, the galleries are Raku and Traditional Stone ware, Book illustrations, Acrylic and Watercolour painting. There are plans to extend the offering to include Embroidery, Wood Turning and carving, Metal work and other creative arts and crafts. Only a limited number of artists using traditional methods will be included in each genre. The site will display creative talent at a cost substantially lower than many other platforms allowing new artists to develop a following. The site is UK based but welcomes Artists from elsewhere.

Web site founder Michael Wood explains the genesis of  Artistsquelle - web site http://www.artistsquelle.com

”As an artist I enjoy the creative process from inception to the agony of deciding when to stop. Each work contains a part of me and I think that’s true of all artists. I wanted to find a way of showing my illustrations and paintings that reflect that feeling.”

“Mega sites resembling on line shopping malls do not appeal to me and after research I realised the answer was to design my own Arts & Crafts web site, Artistsquelle.com. I intend to keep the site small and focused, a space where a limited number of artists and craftspeople can show and share their creations with buyers who appreciate traditional art and craft.”

“Trying to find a name for the site was an adventure, unsurprisingly the obvious ones are taken or ‘Banked’ for later. I spent some years living in Germany and the word Quelle (source) fits well with what I intend – Artistsquelle a source of art, craft, inspiration and ideas.”

“I’m grateful to my friend Peter Lee for his help and advice. Peter is a well known Devon potter and has two galleries in the boutique.”
