Parents and their children can learn what it takes to succeed as a young performer at a FREE presentation at 9 A.M. Mr. Rafter will discuss the ins and outs of preparing for a career in musical theater, plus offer tips on the skills and training necessary to succeed. At the end of the presentation, students ages 8-18 will have an opportunity to audition with Mr. Rafter for Destination Broadway 2014. This exciting summer program offers students a chance to train in New York City with Mr. Rafter and other industry professionals during a one week workshop. Michael Rafter is a well-known, Emmy Award winning Broadway Musical Director. He was the Music Supervisor for Jersey Boys and has been the Music Director for numerous shows on Broadway including Thoroughly Modern Millie, Tap Dance Kid, The King and I, Violet, The Sound of Music, Swing and Sunset Boulevard. Michael recently completed a cabaret tour with Tony Award Winner Sutton Foster. Michael is a Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Destination Broadway summer workshop program for young people ages 8-18.
