PRLog - Jan. 21, 2014 - ORLANDO, Fla. -- ORLANDO — Scott Hudson, the President and CEO of Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc., will be the industry keynote speaker at the 69th annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC) this summer in Orlando.

Attendance at the August 17 - 20, 2014, event at the Orlando World Center Marriott is expected to top 8,000, drawing participants from across the nation and a number of foreign countries.

In his keynote address, Hudson will discuss the opportunities and challenges of today’s workers’ compensation market, and how the political and economic climates are affecting the industry.

Hudson is well suited to the task. As President and CEO of Gallagher Bassett Services, he oversees approximately 4,700 skilled professionals who provide claims management, medical cost containment, analytical and consultative services to its clients worldwide representing virtually every sector of the global economy. Prior to joining Gallagher Bassett in 2010, Hudson spent more than 25 years as a business consultant specializing in the insurance and financial services industries. He began his consulting career with Anderson Consulting (now Accenture), and over the years, he has held key leadership positions with Information Consulting Group; McKinsey & Company, Inc.; Renaissance Worldwide, Inc.; and, most recently, Bridge Strategy Group LLC in Chicago.

“We are delighted to have someone of Mr. Hudson’s experience and reputation as our keynote speaker,” says WCEC General Chairman James N. McConnaughhay. “His appearance is reflective of the national scope that our convention presents, and the importance that we place on presenting programs of significance from prominent industry leaders.”

The 4-day conference is the largest gathering of its kind in the nation. In addition to Hudson’s keynote address, there are program tracks for employers, risk managers, brokers, adjusters, judges, lawyers, state administrators, safety professionals, nurses, doctors, representatives from the PEO and temporary employment industry, Medicare specialists, mediators, social security experts and Longshore specialists. Attendees can earn CEUs from numerous disciplines, and more than 300 exhibitors will be on hand to present information on their products and services.

Now in its 69th year, the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC) is the must-attend event for C-level executives, risk managers, claims adjusters, insurers, and medical and legal experts involved in workers’ compensation. Presented by the Workers’ Compensation Institute, the WCEC is the largest gathering of its kind in the nation and offers  discipline-specific programs and break-out sessions from hundreds of national speakers, as well as CEU opportunities. All stakeholders in the workers' compensation community are represented at and welcome to participate in the conference.

The 2014 Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference will be held August 17-20 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

The Workers’ Compensation Institute (WCI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization that serves all members of the workers’ compensation community—risk managers, insurers, brokers, agents, employers, employees, and claims, medical, and legal professionals.
