Singapore, 21 January 2014 – Having just completed a fruitful 2013, Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre and its convention wing MAX Atria, are already all geared up for an even more productive year ahead. The venue saw more than 800 events attended by 7.5 million visitors in 2013, an increase of 13% in the total events held and 25% surge in footfalls as compared to 2012. This year, the number of events and total visitors are each projected to grow by a further 10%.
Fuelling this growth would be a few industry leading events, including the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS), Asia’s premier sourcing platform and design-led exhibition. IFFS is the main event in the week-long design celebration which features Singapore’s very own home-grown creative talents across various industries such as architecture, urban planning, landscaping, furniture, graphic and fashion. To be held in March, IFFS 2014 will occupy a total of 60,000 sqm of gross exhibition space and will welcome an estimated 450 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors from over 100 countries. IFFS is also the longest running event at the Singapore EXPO, with 15 editions of the exhibition held here since 1999.
Another key event is Food & Hotel Asia (FHA), the largest trade event for the F&B and hospitality industries in Asia, to be held in April. FHA 2014 has grown from the first edition at Singapore EXPO in 2000 to this year’s edition which will occupy 95,000 sqm of gross exhibition space with 2,800 exhibitors from 70 countries and an expected 64,000 trade attendees from 95 countries. To be held here for the eighth time, FHA 2014 will be the largest edition to date.
Singapore EXPO is also set to host the two largest corporate meetings ever to be held in Singapore, Herbalife Extravaganza Asia-Pacific in May and Nu Skin Southeast Asia Regional Convention in July, welcoming a combined total of more than 30,000 delegates. Nutrition company Herbalife has been organising the Extravaganza, an event to showcase its company profile, range of products and business successes at the Singapore EXPO since 2003 while Nu Skin will be holding its regional convention here for the first time. These meetings will span across some 60,000 to 70,000 square metres of event space.
Mr Aloysius Arlando, Chief Executive Officer of Singex Venues, the management company of Singapore EXPO and MAX Atria, says, “We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead and are gearing up for a strong event line up in 2014. Our operations, event services and technical support teams are well-equipped to meet the exacting demands and challenges of these mega shows.”
Singapore EXPO is also seeing a significant upward trend of events being held at its venue from the information technology, medical and aviation sectors, in line with Singapore’s vision of becoming the Asian hub for these sectors. Events from these industries include the inaugural edition of Internet of Things Asia 2014 (April), Singapore Health & Biomedical Congress (September) and MRO Asia Conference & Exhibition (November).
Held for the first time in MAX Atria last year, MRO Asia Conference & Exhibition has since confirmed the same venue for its next two editions for this year and in 2015. According to Ms Lydia Janow, Director of Events & Trade Show, Aviation Week, the organiser of MRO Asia, “One of the reasons that we decided to come to Singapore EXPO was the versatility of the facilities. The support from the team here has been phenomenal and we look forward to being here for the next two years to bring our show to a new height.”
Mr Arlando concludes, “We are pleased that many of our clients believe in Singapore EXPO with a long term view of growing their events, both in scale and structure, to be more successful editions in future. We have always endeavoured to be the preferred venue partner for organisers who desire to grow their shows to become leading events in their respective industry sectors, while simultaneously contributing significantly towards Singapore’s economy and the MICE industry. This drives our team to continuously strive for service excellence as we grow together with our clients.”
Other events to be held for the first time at the Singapore EXPO and MAX Atria include the 52nd Multiple District 308 Lions Convention 2014 (April), Sensor Networks and Information Processing (ISSNIP) 2014 (April), an international conference on Intelligent Sensors, SenseAsia 2014 (May), the first conference in Asia where world experts gather to provide key updates in sensory science, InterMET Asia 2014 (June), APAC’s only dedicated meteorological technology event and Interspeech 2014 (September), a conference on speech communication science and technology research.
Rounding up the calendar for Singapore EXPO and MAX Atria this year include events like the Far East Organisation’
