By: Melbourne Zoo Presented by ANZ, this truly spectacular production under the stars among the ambiance of Zoo animals is a fundraising event for the Melbourne Zoo and ANZ Trustees Foundation: Rob Guest Endowment for emerging talent in Musical Theatre. Producer Adam J Lowe says of the event: “Through the Rob Guest Endowment, we have pulled together a fantastic lineup of cast members to showcase the Disney production – and in what better surrounds than among the roars of the nearby big cats at the Zoo.” “The Melbourne Zoo is a fantastic location to showcase Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The cast is really excited to be performing in this twilight production. “This family-friendly event is an opportunity to enjoy a picnic hamper, and immerse yourself in the wonders of the Beast, Belle, Gaston and all that is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. “We are honoured to be a part of this amazing event to raise funds for the Melbourne Zoo Predator Learning Centre and Rob Guest Endowment.” Starring David Harris (Legally Blonde) and Patrice Tipoki (Les Miserables), alongside the best of Australian Music Theatre and Television including Frank Garfield (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Nancye Hayes OAM as Mrs Potts, Glenn Hill (2012 Winner ANZ Trustees Foundation: Rob Guest Endowment, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Legally Blonde), Adrian Li Donni (King and I), Rob Mills (Wicked, Grease) as Gaston, Anne Wood (Mamma Mia) and John Wood (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Blue Heelers) as Cogsworth the mantle clock and many other musical theatre stars. Directed by Grace Barnes, with Musical Direction by Luke Hunter and choreography by Jason Coleman, the concert promises to be a terrific family occasion. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket, let the kids roam the zoo, get their face painted or be photographed in the Beastly setting before settling in for the evening on the lawn to enjoy this spectacular production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. This is an all weather event. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be playing on Australia Day 26 January (exclusive to Zoo Members) and 27 January. Family passes available.
