According to RidingTheBeast.com, the number 7 is defined as “indicates the senses of a change after an accomplished cycle and of a positive renewal.” Baltimore Fashion Week will be hosted in Baltimore City August 14th -17th.
To bring Baltimore Fashion Week back to the city meant the production team needed to find the perfect location and capture the vision for the move. Since February 2013, Sharan Nixon has been searching for the perfect venue, and found it right in the heart of downtown Baltimore.
The intended location needed to be able to accommodate the most lavish of fashion guests and have sleeping quarters fit for a queen or king. Having several options within the city limits, the selection became obvious during the walk-through of one of the most historic downtown hotels Baltimore City has to offer. From the 19th floor to the lobby, Nixon knew this was the ideal place to host the annual fashion event. The venue selected for the annual designer showcase is none other than the Lord Baltimore Hotel.
“Not being able to utilize the War Memorial building as in 2008 and 2009 due to increased rental fees, it became essential to find a location that would be just as nice. I never thought the Lord Baltimore Hotel would be an option” said Sharan Nixon, Executive Director of the Fashion Umbrella.
Organizing an event this size requires careful planning, a strict budget, and an Executive Board to guide you along the way. Lee Johnson, Director of Sales at the Lord Baltimore Hotel and his staff understood the mission, the vision, the passion, the need, and the desperate cry to bring Baltimore Fashion Week back to its roots. Baltimore Fashion Week deserves a sense of elegance, posh, and glamour. The Lord Baltimore Hotel delivers all of that with ease.
“To bring the event back to its birth place and grassroots is a wonderful feeling. My design team has expanded by bringing Joseph Campbell, Production Director onboard. His main responsibility will be staging, lighting and sound. To have assistance with one of the most important elements of any production is critical,” stated Nixon.
Not only is the Lord Baltimore Hotel, the rebirth location for Baltimore Fashion Week, but an introduction to the Fashion Umbrella Marketplace. The Fashion Umbrella Marketplace is a new platform design to host exhibitors (vendors).
Registration is open for designers, models, press, volunteers, interns, make-up artists and hair stylists. For more information, please visit the event website www.baltimore-
