Weingrod, in a video clip promoting the project, states, “I’m known for being involved in comedies but Last Wishes is not a comedy, however, I can guarantee you it will bring a smile to your face”. His production credits include the Michael Douglas drama, Falling Down.
The project is described by Widemire as, “a short film that takes the adage ‘never judge a book by its cover’ one step further to -- never judge a life lived by what remains”. He is producing alongside Jason Giacopelli under the Weingrod/Widemire production banner, State of Mind Films, which produced the 2007 feature, The Final Season, starring Sean Astin and Powers Boothe.
Angela Paton (Dirty Harry, Flatliners, Groundhog Day, American Wedding, Red Eye) and Marco St. John (State of Grace, Runaway Jury, Monster, The Punisher, Shadow People) are attached in the lead roles of “Emilie” and “Philipe Baptiste”.
Nashville songwriter and recording artist, Irene Kelley, has signed on to record the film’s theme song. She will be joined vocally by daughters Sara Jean and Justyna Kelley both noted solo recording artists in their own right.
