According to McFadden during the eight years she worked as a police officer, she was faced with an in-depth look at the lifestyles of those who commit crimes. And though the demographics crossed all lines of race and age and national origin, motivational speaker McFadden found a common thread among the hundreds she arrested.
"Although their crimes were a varied group of felonies, from battery to assaults and drugs and dozens in between, all of the perpetrators had one thing in common. They had absolutely no idea of their purpose. And this vital thread of life is missing from many people these days, but in the case of criminals, it led me to an important understanding, one that motivated me to find my own purpose and commit to it. Without connecting to our purpose, that is to say, our reason for being here on earth, we tend to live lives filled with doubt and desperation."
The interviewer asked many probing questions with a focus on McFadden’s mission to help individuals find and connect with their purpose. Her response to one question provided a deeper insight into her belief about how individuals can learn to overcome adversity.
“Sometimes the things we attempt to do in this life will fail, but that does not make us a failure. We begin to fail when we refuse to attempt to capture greatness, or when we allow life to keep us down. You are meant to rise again with greater courage. There is a plan in the middle of failure, and that plan is to grab a hold of the greatness within you.”

About Justinah McFadden
Justinah McFadden is a sought after speaker and the author of several books including, LIFE IS A LOBSTER and the forthcoming, LOBSTER CLAWS which will be released on February 15th. A book launch party is being presented in Jacksonville Florida.
In her words, “When I was eight years old God placed a vision in my heart to become a writer. There was a spark of hope within me that always allowed me to know that there was a calling for my life. Growing up poor, and in improvised stricken neighborhoods, I would witness what happened to those that lacked hope or direction. I want people to know I'm an overcomer because I overcame adversity, poverty, a trying childhood and domestic violence. It all came together when I found my purpose and began to act on it, and although my books are highly motivational they also act as powerfully effective and easy to follow roadmaps that provide the steps that help you realize your dreams."
