WALL, N.J. - Jan. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- DOCO The Donut and Coffee Company (www.docodonut.com) wants to be much more than just another a local donut shop; it wants to be a place where people can come for community, entertainment and enrichment of the culinary and cultural kind.

This is why DOCO business partners Nick Gianna and Vinny DePaola decided to offer their customers an ambitious speaker's series inviting local and regionally-known authors and other notables to their store to offer customers and guests presentations regarding their books and areas of expertise. The first of the series kicks off on Friday, January 24th at noon with a topical discussion of "Dr King's Failures" by Author, Dr. Walter Greason.

According to DePaola, "Dr. Greason's presentation is very appropriate for Martin Luther King week. We want to remind our customers of this great man's remarkable societal contributions and personal sacrifices. And, to further honor Dr. King's memory, DOCO will be offering all attendees on the 24th a commemorative "King" donut; similar to a "black and white" cookie symbolizing Dr. King's dream of a world with better race relations among all."

Dr. Greason will be focusing on the nature of the Dream Dr. King articulated in 1963 and how it connects with today's political debates.

According to his biographical information, Greason is the Chief Executive Officer for the International Center for Metropolitan Growth, a firm that specializes in starting and attracting new businesses to markets in North America. He also teaches world history, American history, and economic history at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. His two books, Suburban Erasure: How the Suburbs Ended the Civil Rights Movement in New Jersey and The Path to Freedom: Black Families in New Jersey, connect undiscovered local elements of the black freedom movement with global trends in economic development. In 1996, Greason was recognized as a contemporary Black History Maker for his work to advance racial integration at Villanova University. In 2011, he was honored as an “International Master Teacher” for his innovative techniques in undergraduate student research. His scholarship is available through his website, www.waltergreason.com (http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.waltergr...).
