SAVANNAH, Ga. - Jan. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- (SAVANNAH, GA): The Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter announces their Celebration of Love event, an evening of jazz, auctions, dinner and entertainment, taking place Friday, Feb. 7 in celebration of the organization’s 30 year anniversary.

The evening will start at 6 p.m. at the Plantation Club of the Landings. Individual seats are $125. In addition, the organization is promoting five sponsorship levels, including diamond, platinum, gold, silver and bronze, through which companies and individuals are able to support this local youth shelter.

Thanks to the generous assistance of the Savannah Music Festival, this year’s guests will enjoy an incredible evening of music performed by guitarists Gene Bertoncini, Howard Paul and Howard Alden. Bertoncini has been on the faculties of Eastman School of Music, the New England Conservatory, New York University and the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada. He is also on the staff of the Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camps.

Paul, President and CEO of Benedetto Guitars, Inc., is a highly respected ex-military, jazz guitarist who splits his time between performing at jazz clubs and concert halls, lecturing at universities and music schools, and running the Benedetto Guitars’ workshop, located on the south side of Savannah. In 2011, Paul was inducted in the Savannah/Coastal Jazz Hall of Fame.

Alden has been playing the seven-string guitar since 1992. In 2004, Alden was chosen to be an accompanying musician for the 50th anniversary Newport Jazz Festival after touring 50 cities across the United States. Alden was voted “Best Emerging Talent-Guitar” in the first annual JazzTimes critics’ poll, 1990, and “Talent Deserving Wider Recognition” in the 1996, 1992, 1993 and 1995 Downbeat critics’ poll.

Last year through sponsorship support, Park Place was able to raise $23,000.  To purchase tickets for this event, individuals are asked to call Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter at 912-234-4048.
