Thanks to the generous assistance of the Savannah Music Festival, this year’s guests will enjoy an incredible evening of music performed by guitarists Gene Bertoncini, Howard Paul and Howard Alden. Bertoncini has been on the faculties of Eastman School of Music, the New England Conservatory, New York University and the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada. He is also on the staff of the Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camps. Paul, President and CEO of Benedetto Guitars, Inc., is a highly respected ex-military, jazz guitarist who splits his time between performing at jazz clubs and concert halls, lecturing at universities and music schools, and running the Benedetto Guitars’ workshop, located on the south side of Savannah. In 2011, Paul was inducted in the Savannah/Coastal Jazz Hall of Fame. Alden has been playing the seven-string guitar since 1992. In 2004, Alden was chosen to be an accompanying musician for the 50th anniversary Newport Jazz Festival after touring 50 cities across the United States. Alden was voted “Best Emerging Talent-Guitar” Last year through sponsorship support, Park Place was able to raise $23,000. Henry St., provides support for troubled children and teens in Savannah and the surrounding area. Opened in 1984, the shelter, open 24 hours a day, offers youth, between the ages of 11 and 17, a safe and loving environment.
